As an organisation that strives for excellence, TCDA identified the need for the creation of a selective performance troupe back in 2014, the first selective performance troupe in this region at that time. We noticed that it was incredibly hard for dancers to join this troupe at auditions because the level of training was so high so we added a junior troupe in 2017 to bridge this skills gap and prepare dancers for the rigours of troupe training and performance. This philosophy expanded in 2018 with the addition of our Mini Troupe and then an Intermediate Troupe in 2019. In that first year of 4 troupes TCDA entered 28 items at Competitions and were awarded 26 first places and 2 seconds.
Our Troupe motto has always been "we move as one" and focus on working hard for each other. All TCDA Troupe members can be extremely proud of their work ethic , professionalism, humility and sportsmanship. Their competition etiquette is second to none and the same can be said for their dance parents.
Any TCDA student is welcome to audition for Troupe free of charge. This year 57 students auditioned with 47 dancers being offered places as follows.
Mini Troupe - 12 dancers (7 incumbents, 5 new)
Junior Troupe - 9 dancers (4 incumbents, 5 promoted from Mini)
Intermediate Troupe - 11 dancers (5 Incumbents, 5 promoted from Junior, 1 new)
Senior Troupe - 15 Dancers (10 Incumbents, 3 promoted from Inter, 1 new)
A successful audition is the starting gun, not the finishing line. We are so proud of everyone who auditioned and so grateful for such an extraordinary pool of talent. Congratulations and here's to another fabulous year!
